Why This Trade Would Benefit The Golden State Warriors

It was a slow start to the season for the Golden State Warriors but Steph Curry has them playing well come the NBA All-Star break. This is something that will continue to happen in the second half of the season.

The Warriors are a mediocre team with Thompson hurt but Curry’s greatness is something that has carried them to being in the playoff picture. It would benefit this team greatly if they could add another perimeter threat to take some attention away from Curry. Ellington is not a huge scorer, just 10 points per game to this point but he is an elite three-point marksman.

Wayne Ellington is shooting 41.4% from beyond the arc this season. That is with the Pistons. If Ellington were to join Steph Curry in the backcourt in Golden State, he would get even more looks. This seems like a fit for both the Warriors and Ellington.

Golden State could look to add a big-name player as a bridge to next season when Thompson is expected to return. If they want to go in a different direction, Ellington could be a player to keep an eye on.
