Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Dallas Mavericks

Not only is JJ Redick one of the best three-point shooters of all-time, but the veteran sharpshooter is currently shooting 37% from three-point range. In fact, over his last 14 games, Redick is shooting over 49% from three-point range, making him one of the hottest shooters in the league right now.

Outside of Jalen Brunson, Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr, the Dallas Mavericks do not really have any reliable three-point shooters this season and in a league where perimeter shooting triumphs over all, it makes a ton of sense for Dallas to want to add Redick to their rotation.

He is experienced and has been a part of many teams that made deep playoff runs, which is another reason why he can be vital to the Mavericks success during the second half of this season and in the playoffs. Redick knows what it takes to win and his veteran leadership is something that can make everyone on this team better.

Dallas made the playoffs last year but overall, this team is pretty inexperienced when it comes to playoff experience. Nobody on their roster has ever made the NBA Finals and overall, they do not have much combined playoff experience on their roster.

JJ Redick has been to the playoffs every single year of his career except last season with the Pelicans and he has even been to the NBA Finals once with the Orlando Magic in 2009. These are the kinds of players Dallas needs to make a deep run this season and in order to reach their full potential.

Not only can Redick step up and knock down some big shots on the court for the Mavericks, but he could help shape this team into a true championship contender for years to come. Dallas needs an experienced, veteran leader and they can get that from trading for J.J. Redick.
