The Boston Celtics are a team that could look to shake things up as we approach the trade deadline. They are in the midst of a mediocre start to the season. Boston still finds themselves in the middle of the Eastern Conference because of the poor nature of many teams. They are looking to win a championship and this could lead to a deadline deal, possibly with the Houston Rockets for a guy like Victor Oladipo or Eric Gordon.
The Rockets are a team that knows a thing or two about big trades. They have sent away Russell Westbrook and James Harden over the last couple months. The Rockets have quickly turned into a rebuilding team as they are 11-17 so far this season.
Houston is not the contender that it has been in the past and that will be the case moving forward. Now that Westbrook and Harden are gone, we have seen other names, such as Gordon, Oladipo, and PJ Tucker, appear in trade rumors.
This is where the Celtics might have some interest. Heading into the offseason, the Celtics had a great need down low. They did not make any improvements besides signing Tristan Thompson.
Early on, that move has not worked out. This is an area that they could still look to improve upon.
This deal would land them some depth in the back-court. Gordon is a veteran player who would give the Celtics some help right away and when the playoffs come around.
Houston could be looking to unload some veteran names in the lineup. If they do, this deal with the Celtics could be one that interests both sides. Let’s take a look at what a potential trade between these two teams could look like.
