This Celtics-Pacers trade is centered around Doug McDermott

Why This Trade Would Benefit The Boston Celtics

This is a trade that would help both sides right away and in the future. For the Celtics, the impact would have to be immediate if they want to climb up the standings a bit. They were expected to be championship contenders this season but have not look like it just yet. This is not a deal that will win them a title but it is a step in the right direction.

After Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics are depleted. Kemba Walker has not fit in since signing a deal in free agency. This is his second year in Boston and could already be on the trading block.

The frontcourt of Tristan Thompson and Daniel Theis is extremely mediocre while the team has not built a great bench. This is a chance to add an experienced player that could knock down an open shot from three-point range. Brad Stevens is a coach who would be able to incorporate Doug McDermott’s skillset into the offense right away.

Boston needs some more help if they want to compete with teams like the Brooklyn Nets and Philadelphia 76ers in the East. This could be the first of many moves we see the Celtics make at some point in the future.
