Here’s how the Nets could trade for Magic forward Aaron Gordon

The Brooklyn Nets have already made one massive trade this season, bringing in superstar guard James Harden from the Houston Rockets. Now, there is a chance that they could look to make another sizable deal ahead of the NBA trade deadline. One name that has been mentioned as a good fit is Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon.

Gordon would certainly fit nicely alongside the “Big Three” in Brooklyn and would help the Nets upgrade their front-court.

So far this season with the Magic, Gordon has put together a solid year. He has averaged 13.8 points per game to go along with 7.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists. Gordon has shot 42.7 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 36.9 percent from the three-point line.

Obviously, Gordon is a valuable player and would not come super cheap. The Nets would have to give up some value in order to get him.

Here is one trade that would send Gordon from the Magic to the Nets that both teams would likely have interest in.

Brooklyn Nets Receive: F Aaron Gordon

Orlando Magic Receive: G Spencer Dinwiddie, G Tyler Johnson, F Nicolas Claxton, PHX 2021 2nd Round Pick (via BRK), IND 2021 2nd Round Pick (via BRK)

Some fans may not love the fit of Gordon alongside James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant. He might not be asked to score the ball a ton, but having his athleticism, ability to put the ball on the floor and also spot up to shoot, along with the fact that he is just 25 years old makes this a good fit.

Aaron Gordon is not the kind of player that can carry a No. 1 scorer’s workload. He isn’t going to put up 20 points per game. However, he can be a great supporting cast player, similar to the kind of role that Tobias Harris plays for the Philadelphia 76ers alongside Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons.

For the Nets, this trade would be worth it. They’re not giving up huge value to get Gordon and he is absolutely a better fit for them now than Dinwiddie.

Expect to hear the Nets mentioned in quite a few rumors ahead of the NBA trade deadline. Gordon may not end up being one of their targets, but they will look to improve their roster for a better chance to win the NBA Finals.
