Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets don’t figure to play a part in the NBA Playoff picture themselves, as they are on an 11-game losing streak and plummeting in the standings. However, they could help swing the playoff race by being sellers.

The Rockets began the process of overhauling their roster when they released DeMarcus Cousins in a show of good faith for future free agents. They want to get younger and build around Christian Wood in the frontcourt. He should be the first of many pieces on the move out of Houston.

P.J. Tucker is one of the last key pieces from the Mike D’Antonio era remaining on the roster. Expect him to be a popular name among contending teams looking to upgrade their rotation, as he brings experience, defense and 3-point shooting. Eric Gordon is another former D’Antoni player that could be had for the right price. Another name to watch is Victor Oladipo.

Oladipo was acquired in the James Harden blockbuster with the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Indiana Pacers. He is set to become a free agent this upcoming offseason. The Rockets offered him an extension recently, which he turned down, so talks should heat up involving him.

With some of the better pieces available on the trade market this year, the Rockets need to cash in on the assets they have.
