4 teams in real need of making a change at the NBA trade deadline

The 2021 NBA Trade Deadline is quickly approaching, set for March 25th. While this year’s deadline may not involve many big named players being on the move, there are some deals that could be made to help swing the playoff race.

With the league expanding to 10 teams per conference for the playoffs, there won’t be as many sellers as in years past. With the added playoff teams, more teams will believe they have a chance to make a run and will be hesitant to sell.

As things currently stand, only one team in the Eastern Conference, the Detroit Pistons, are more than three games out of a playoff spot. In the Western Conference, the Sacramento Kings, Houston Rockets and Minnesota Timberwolves are more than three games out of a playoff spot.

There are some teams, such as the New York Knicks, who are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, that can be buyers and sellers given the number of players they have on one-year deals. The Chicago Bulls are another team that is surprisingly competitive this season that could teeter between buyers and sellers in the coming weeks.
