Here’s how the Knicks could trade for Victor Oladipo

The New York Knicks are without question one of the most intriguing teams in the NBA right now. Behind a superstar season from Julius Randle, the Knicks are no 18-17 on the season and are the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. Now, they could be looking to trade for another star and Victor Oladipo is a name to keep a close eye on.

Since Oladipo was acquired by the Houston Rockets in the trade with the Indiana Pacers, rumors have swirled that they could move him again. New York has been mentioned as a potential destination.

In the 13 games he has played with the Rockets since the trade, Oladipo has averaged 18.9 points per game to go along with 4.9 rebounds and 4.8 assists. He has shot 39.1 percent from the floor overall and has knocked down 29.5 percent of his three-point attempts.

While Oladipo has not been the same player since his ruptured quad injury, his body is getting back into shape. He is much more explosive and athletic than he was last year. A trade to the Knicks would make a lot of sense and could give him a long-term situation to stick with.

How could the Knicks get a trade done with the Rockets and what would it take? Here is one trade that would get the job done.

New York Knicks Receive: G Victor Oladipo, F David Nwaba

Houston Rockets Receive: G Alec Burks, G Frank Ntilikina, F Kevin Knox II, DAL 2021 1st Round Pick (via NYK), LAC 2021 1st Round Pick (via NYK)

New York would be getting the best player in the deal in Oladipo and would not have to give up too much in return. Yes, two first-round picks would head to the Rockets, but that isn’t something to shy away from. None of the three players heading to Houston are major difference makers.

Not only would the Knicks be getting Oladipo, they would be getting a solid role player in Nwaba. He can play solid defense and can score a bit as well.

This trade would be a nice fit for both parties involved. If Oladipo would consider a contract extension with the Knicks, it makes even more sense. Either way, this deal would move New York into a more serious role of contention in the Eastern Conference.
