Victor Oladipo considered likely to sign contract extension if traded to Heat

The Houston Rockets may have acquired Victor Oladipo recently, but there are reports that they are looking to move him before the NBA trade deadline. One potential destination that has come up consistently over the last year has been the Miami Heat. Oladipo is said to be wanting to steer his way to South Beach.

Now, a new report is showing why the Heat should strongly consider trading for Oladipo.

According to a report from Keith Pompey of the Philly Inquirer, Oladipo is considered likely to be willing to sign a contract extension with the Heat if they trade for him. That would be a big-time win for Pat Riley and company.

“Some around the league think Victor Oladipo could be a candidate to sign a contract with the Miami Heat during the upcoming free-agency period. So one has to imagine that the Rockets will look to move the two-time All-Star.”

So far this season, Oladipo has been slowly looking like his old self physically. However, his numbers on the court simply have not been the same. Ever since his quad rupture, things have not been the same.

If the Heat were to trade for him, they would be hoping that time would help Victor Oladipo regain his form. A contract extension would give him that time. Even with how he is now, Oladipo would be a nice fit in the Miami back-court.

Oladipo has played in and started 13 games with the Rockets since being traded by the Indiana Pacers. He has averaged 18.9 points, 4.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. In addition to those averages, he has shot just 39.1 percent from the floor and 29.5 percent from the three-point line.

Despite some of the concerns surrounding Oladipo’s health, the Heat should push for a trade. It wouldn’t cost them too much and he could be exactly what they need to turn things around and get back to being NBA Finals contenders.

Expect to hear plenty of rumors surrounding Victor Oladipo ahead of the NBA trade deadline. The Heat seem like the most likely landing spot at this point in time.
