This intriguing trade scenario sends PJ Tucker to the Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are coming off winning their 17th NBA Championship in franchise history, tying their rivals, the Boston Celtics, for most championships by any franchise in NBA history. GM Rob Pelinka and the Lakers’ front office though were not satisfied with just one championship though and got to work this past offseason, adding plenty of talent around LeBron James and Anthony Davis to make the Lakers a championship contender for the next several years.

Two of the Lakers’ biggest acquisitions this offseason were Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell, the reigning Sixth-Man of the Year. Schroder was traded from OKC to Los Angeles before the 2020 NBA Draft this offseason and not only can he be the Lakers’ third scoring option, but he will take a lot of pressure off of LeBron James this year.

LeBron has been the Lakers’ main facilitator and floor general the last couple of seasons and while he is still one of the best passers and facilitators in the entire league, he could really use some help. With Dennis Schroder’s abilities to be a passer and floor general, the Lakers do not have to be as reliant on James during the regular season and as a result, can make sure that he is 100% ready to go for their postseason run and their quest to win back-to-back titles.

Much like Schroder takes pressure off of LeBron James, Montrezl Harrell takes a lot of pressure off of Anthony Davis in the frontcourt. Davis has been one of the best defensive players in the entire league and is the anchor for the Lakers in the frontcourt, but when he was not on the court last year, the Lakers’ frontcourt was not good defensively and struggled at times to score.

Now, with Anthony Davis out for an extended period of time with a calf strain, the Lakers could really use some more help in their frontcourt. Since Davis re-injured his calf, L.A. is 1-3 in their last four contests and have struggled to find production from anyone other than LeBron. Could the Lakers look to make a move to add more talent before the NBA trade deadline?

This team has all the makings of being NBA Champions once again, but they could make one more move that would make them virtually impossible to stop. We know what the Lakers can do offensively, but if they can add another defensive threat next to Anthony Davis, then the season might as well be called for the Lakers now.

Let’s take a look at a trade that could possibly land PJ Tucker in Los Angeles with LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
