The Detroit Pistons are a team that has been building their roster the right way through the NBA Draft. With a young nucleus of players, they may be ready to make a trade or two. One player to keep an eye on for a potential trade would be Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie.
According to a report from Ian Begley of SNY, the Pistons are one of the teams interested in making a trade for Dinwiddie ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
“The Detroit Pistons are among the teams who have had interest in acquiring Spencer Dinwiddie from the Nets, per SNY sources.”
Dinwiddie has missed most of the season this year due to a partially torn ACL. However, a trade to bring him in would help the Pistons long-term. He could be a piece that they could build around in the future.
Last season with the Nets in 64 games and 49 starts, Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points per game to go along with 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds. He shot 41.5 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 30.8 percent of his three-point attempts.
Those numbers show why the Pistons would have interest in trading for Dinwiddie. He would be a huge upgrade at point guard and would be able to make teammates better around him. Depending on the price tag, this move would be an obvious one to make.
It will be interesting to see who ends up acquiring Spencer Dinwiddie, or if the Nets even end up trading him. They do like his fit alongside Kyrie Irving, James Harden, and Kevin Durant. But, if a team offers a good trade, the Nets should not refuse it.
Expect to hear the Pistons continue being interested in making a move. Dinwiddie would be a perfect target and it wouldn’t be shocking to see Detroit making a move for him.
