Washington Wizards Receive: C Jonas Valanciunas, POR 2021 2nd Round Pick (via MEM)

Memphis Grizzlies Receive: C Thomas Bryant, C Moritz Wagner, G Jerome Robinson, WAS 2022 1st Round Pick, WAS 2024 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected)

If the Wizards really want Valanciunas, they are going to have to offer up a lot to get him, which is one of the main reasons why the Grizzlies could be willing to listen to this offer. While he is not one of the best centers in the league, Jonas Valanciunas is a very consistent center that is more than capable of getting a double-double every night.

He does not have a lot of value to his name, which is why this trade scenario could be very enticing to the Grizzlies. This is the best offer they will ever get for the Lithuanian big man, which is why they could really consider this trade.

Thomas Bryant is out for the year with an ACL injury, but he is a young center that possesses a lot of potential. Before getting injured, he was averaging 14.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 0.8 blocks and was shooting 64.8% from the floor. He has been getting better each and every year he has been in the league, much like Moritz Wagner and Jerome Robinson.

All three guys the Grizzlies would be getting in this trade are 23-years old and bring a lot of potential with them to Memphis. Not only does this trade give the Grizzlies more young talent to play around with and develop further, but three guys who can be counted upon as role players this year and moving forward.

Not to mention, they get two future first-round picks, which could be useful in continuing to put a lot of talent around their core of Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr. The Grizzlies are on the verge of making the playoffs, so it may not be the best move for them to shake things up roster wise right now, but they definitely get a lot of value out of trading Valanciunas.

Both teams are very much in the playoff hunt in their conferences, but could this trade help both teams finally break through and make the playoffs in their respective conferences? Let’s take a closer look as to why this trade could make sense for both the Wizards and the Grizzlies.
