Why This Trade Would Benefit The San Antonio Spurs
The San Antonio Spurs are also in the playoff mix in the Western Conference, but they could look to acquire more depth for the future. Adding TJ Warren and Jeremy Lamb to their roster will give them some solid depth to build their team around.
The Spurs need to move on from DeMar DeRozan due to his expiring contract and getting some depth for a player that would likely leave the team in free agency anyways could make a lot of sense.
Don’t get it twisted, DeRozan has been a tremendous player for the Spurs, but the team has plenty of intriguing young players to focus on building around. Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, Derrick White, Lonnie Walker IV, and Devin Vassell each could shoulder more responsibility.

This trade scenario would give the Spurs the option of not having to completely embrace going with their younger options. TJ Warren has emerged as a highly intriguing scorer but has been sidelined due to a foot injury. He could replace DeRozan and align better with the Spurs’ core at 27-years-old.
