Does This Trade Make Sense For The Boston Celtics?
There is no doubt that if this trade came to the Celtics, that they would accept it without hesitation. They would be getting an All-Star center in Nikola Vucevic for two future first-round picks and Daniel Theis.
This would be a dream come true for GM Danny Ainge and the entire Celtics’ front-office because they would be getting one of the best players in the league this season for virtually nothing. Sure, those future first-round picks could be valuable, but they could also turn out to be busts.
Daniel Theis is nothing more than a role player for this franchise and with them having plenty of other young frontcourt options, it would make perfect sense for them to trade him and his $5M salary away to a team like the Knicks, even if the second-round pick they receive does not convey over to them.

Vucevic is a major upgrade from a player like Daniel Theis and would give the Celtics one heckova lineup when Marcus Smart returns from his calf injury. With Walker, Smart, Brown, Tatum and Vucevic, the Celtics would without question be a team to beat not only in the Eastern Conference, but in this entire league.
Acquiring Nikola Vucevic gives the Boston Celtics their best chance to win a championship this year and ultimately, if they do not make this trade, then they will share the same fate as the other Celtics teams throughout the years.
