While Luka Doncic is this team’s main ball-handler and floor general, adding Kyle Lowry could really help this team in a bunch of different areas. Doncic does everything for this team right now and everything revolves around him, which is why getting another leader and facilitator could make Luka Doncic a better overall talent.
With this team not getting off to the start they had hoped and now Kristaps Porzingis trade rumors floating around, the Dallas Mavericks are not in a good position as a franchise right now when they should be very much in the championship conversation in the Western Conference.
This Mavericks team has struggled at times offensively this year and defensively they are a mess. Adding that third All-Star talent to this roster could not only improve them as an offensive team, but it could give them a lot of hope.
This team really believes in Luka Doncic and his teammates love him, but he cannot do everything on his own. Kristaps Porzingis has struggled at times this year, but is still a high-level frontcourt talent that the Mavericks need to keep. All they are missing is that one “spark” and other reliable talent, which is why trading for Lowry makes a ton of sense.
Tim Hardaway Jr. has been a high-impact player for the Mavericks this year, but getting Kyle Lowry would be an upgrade. James Johnson is also in the final year of his contract and is nothing more than a reliable veteran player for Dallas.

They should be very willing to part ways with these two players, but they would also have to give up a lot of draft compensation to acquire Lowry. The Mavericks would need to get a long-term commitment from Lowry before making this trade, especially since they would be giving up their future and draft picks to acquire him, but this could be the move that keeps Dallas in the championship conversation for the next few years.
With Luka, Porzingis and Lowry, the Mavericks would have a really solid team with 3 All-Star talents that they could build around for the next few years. This trade would put Dallas in a strong position to compete for a championship and gives them another weapon to utilize on both ends of the court.
