Aaron Gordon’s trade availability discussed among executives

The Orlando Magic could be busy in the next few weeks heading into the NBA trade deadline. They are one of the many teams teetering between making a playoff push or being sellers. Aaron Gordon will be among the names to watch in NBA trade rumors.

Orlando has an All-Star in Nikola Vucevic, which always makes the decision more difficult. They have no interest in trading him away currently, but at 30-years old, the time is ticking on how much longer the Magic will view him as the centerpiece of their franchise.

Orlando has been hit hard by injuries this season. It has made their shortcomings at certain positions come to light, as the Magic roster is poorly balanced. As a result, one player to keep an eye on in the coming weeks is Aaron Gordon.

While making an appearance on The Hoop Collective Podcast, Brian Windhorst shared that the Magic could look to part ways with one of their core players. Evan Fournier was mentioned, as was Gordon, who Windhorst said is being chatted about among executives around the league.

Gordon has only played in 19 games this season and has struggled to score efficiently. He has truly never put it all together in Orlando, but somehow, Gordon is still only 25-years old despite it feeling like he has been around forever. Teams could see that and be willing to take a shot on him just needing a change of scenery to truly unlock his potential.

Despite his value currently being low, Gordon is signed through 2022, so he would present more than a rental for interested teams. The Magic are not going to just give him away for the sake of making a trade. They will be looking for legitimate value back, most likely in the form of backcourt help.

Orlando is currently sitting 2.5 games out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. If they don’t make a run soon, trade chatter around Aaron Gordon could pick up. Orlando has plenty of options in house to take over his minutes in the frontcourt should they come to the realization they want to move on from the No. 4 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
