The Dallas Mavericks have been reportedly looking into the potential option of trading star big man Kristaps Porzingis. While they may be considering a deal, nothing serious has been reported as of yet. However, one team to keep an eye on could be the Washington Wizards.
According to a report shared by NBA Central on Twitter, the Wizards are currently monitoring a potential trade for Porzingis.
Porzingis would be a very intriguing fit with the Wizards. There is no telling what Washington would have to give up, but assuming it wasn’t Bradley Beal or Russell Westbrook, they could create a very competitive “big three.”
So far this season with the Mavericks, Porzingis has played in and started 17 games. He has averaged 20.5 points per game to go along with 8.2 rebounds, 1.6 blocks, and 1.3 assists. Porzingis has shot 47.3 percent from the floor overall and knocked down 35.2 percent of his three-point attempts.
Granted, there is a very good chance that the Mavericks won’t end up moving him. Listening to offers and actually looking to trade a player are two completely different things.
If they are serious about trading him, there are quite a few teams that will line up with interest in acquiring him. Even if the Wizards are interested in trading for him, they will have a hard time putting together a more intriguing trade package than other teams.
Needless to say, it will be interesting to keep an eye on this situation. The trade deadline is quickly approaching and teams will get aggressive with their trade calls. Don’t be surprised to see quite a few big names get mentioned in rumors.
Expect to hear more rumors come out in the coming days and weeks about the Mavericks and Kristaps Porzingis. The Wizards are certainly a team to keep a close eye on in these talks.
