Why This Trade Would Benefit The Toronto Raptors
The Toronto Raptors have been an elite team in the Eastern Conference over the last couple years but this season started off slow. Toronto re-signed Fred VanVleet in the offseason, which was one of their main priorities entering.
Despite the VanVleet contract, Toronto lost some key pieces in Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka. As the season goes on, the Raptors could be buyers in hopes of continuing their climb up the standings. This is where JJ Redick and Josh Hart from the New Orleans Pelicans could come into play.
Redick is not in an extended role right now and that could change if he finds a new team. It appears that he has lost a step and isn’t quite as dynamic of an off-screen shooting threat as he once was. However, he would bring another veteran voice to a team looking to contend while being able to knock down spot-up jumpers.

Josh Hart is a bench piece that could provide valuable minutes for Toronto down the stretch and appears to be a picture-perfect fit for their team culture. He is an elite rebounder on the wing in addition to being a solid jump shooter. That’s an intriguing combination.
The Eastern Conference is very top heavy this season. The Raptors need to continue to better their roster if they want to keep pace and move further up come postseason time.
