This Warriors-Wizards blockbuster trade is centered on Bradley Beal

Does This Trade Make Sense For The Golden State Warriors?

Bradley Beal’s offensive talents are known around the NBA and adding him to this team with Stephen Curry could end up being very dangerous. While Wiggins shows promise to be a great two-way player when this team is at full-strength, the Warriors do not have time to wait around while losing games, which is why Golden State would likely be highly interested in including him in a trade for Beal.

The only problem is whether or not they would be willing to trade away two of their most prized assets in James Wiseman and Minnesota’s 2021 first-round pick. Wiseman and this first-round pick could very well end up being the core of the future for the Warriors, which is why this would be such a tough decision to make.

Acquiring Bradley Beal definitely helps Golden State in the short-term with Klay Thompson being out, but could this trio actually work? Thompson has always played in the backcourt at shooting guard next to Steph Curry, but he would have to move to small-forward if they made this trade, which could ultimately hurt the way this team plays.

Plus, Bradley Beal’s usage rate is 35.9% this season, which is the highest in the league. This means 35.9% of the time he is on the court, Washington runs a play for or through Beal, meaning he always has the ball in his hands.

Bringing him to Golden State would mean that Curry, Thompson and Green would all have to sacrifice, which is something that could ultimately ruin this team. This trio, when healthy, is one of the better functioning trios in the entire league and they all play so well together, that adding another superstar like Beal could be detrimental to their success.

Sure, it worked with Kevin Durant, but his personality and willingness to sacrifice a little bit of his success for the greater good of the team is why his arrival in Golden State worked out so well. Beal, while he is a great player, may not have the same agenda and cannot do the same things Durant could do, which is a main reason why this trade may not make a lot of sense for the Warriors.

The idea of adding Bradley Beal to this team seems fantastic and like a “home-run” acquisition, but something like this may only work in 2K21. The Warriors would be giving up too much of their future in this trade package, which is why they should hold off and not pursue Beal at this time.
