Chris Paul reacts to Devin Booker being snubbed from NBA All-Star Game

The Phoneix Suns are having a strong season. They are in fourth place in the Western Conference with an impressive 20-10 record. So, it should come as no surprise that they have a representative in the 2021 NBA All-Star Game. Who that representative is though, is what surprised some people.

When the league announced the reserves for the 2021 game, people were shocked that shooting guard Devin Booker was not among the players selected. His teammate, Chris Paul, was the lone Sun picked for the game.

It was a move that garnered some strong reactions. LeBron James, who received the most votes in the Western Conference starting five and will be a captain, was appalled that Devin Booker was selected for the team.

Plenty of fans had the same reaction as LeBron James. Today, Chris Paul reacted to being selected to represent the Western Conference over his teammate.

That is some high praise from Chris Paul and their head coach, Monty Williams. People want to play and coach Booker, which is about as big of a compliment that a player could receive. Opposing defenses know Booker is a budding star as well, otherwise, they wouldn’t devise defensive gameplans that involve double and triple-teaming him on a nightly basis.

When Booker was snubbed in recent years, his stats were good enough but the Suns weren’t. This season, the Suns are winning, but now Booker’s stats aren’t considered good enough.

Booker is averaging 24.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists. Sure, his stats are down a little from last season, but when you add a player the caliber of Paul, there has to be some sacrifices made to make things work. So far, they have worked given the Suns’ spot in the standings.

While it would have been nice to receive the nomination, Booker will most likely be in the game as the injury replacement for Lakers forward, Anthony Davis. It would be the second year in a row Booker is named a replacement for the game. Sooner or later, he will get his own spot on the team.
