1. Experienced, Veteran Talent Wins Championships
While it is great to talk about some of the rising teams in the NBA and some of the younger players in the league becoming faces of a new generation, at the end of the season, the winners of championships are not new faces. Experienced, veteran talent winds up winning championships every year, which is why the Lakers are current favorites to win the championship again and would be even heavier favorites to win if they acquired George Hill.
The Lakers are one of the older teams in the NBA in terms of years of playing experience and while they have some young talents in Kyle Kuzma, Talen Horton-Tucker, and Alex Caruso, this team is led by veterans LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Not to mention other key veterans in the locker room in Marc Gasol, Jared Dudley, and Wesley Matthews.
This team knows what it takes to win and because they are such a tight group, they are always willing to sacrifice for one-another to ensure success. This is why adding George Hill would be such a huge addition to this team, because he himself knows what it is like to sacrifice to win.
Hill was not only a member of the Milwaukee Bucks last year, the best team in the NBA during the regular season, but he played with LeBron James in Cleveland where he went to back-to-back NBA Finals.
Over the course of his career, he has been one of the best scorers on his team, a knock-down three-point shooter, a great facilitator, and a key veteran talent for his team. Hill has adapted to a new role on every team he has been on for the greater good of the organization.
The only thing he has not done in his career is win a championship, even though he has been a part of some championship-caliber teams over the last several years. Acquiring Hill would give the Lakers yet another veteran talent that knows what it takes to win a championship and a player who will give it his all every time he is on the court.
