2. The Lakers Are A Borderline Top-10 Perimeter Shooting Team
Last season, George Hill led the league in three-point shooting percentage at 46% shooting from beyond-the-arc. This year, the Lakers currently rank 11th in three-point shooting percentage.
Adding a dynamic, experienced catch-and-shoot threat like Hill not only improves the Lakers as a three-point shooting team, but makes their offense that much better. Having yet another reliable shooting option for LeBron to kick the ball out to could be the difference in the Lakers taking down some of the better shooting teams in the league like the Jazz and the Clippers come playoff time.
Over the course of his career, Hill has shot 38.4% from three-point range and in 14 games with OKC this year, he is averaging 38.6% from deep. Even at 34 years old, Hill is still shooting at a higher level than over half of the league and can make a big difference on the offensive end of the court for the Lakers.
Not to mention, Hill is averaging 11.8 points per game this year, which is his highest total since the 2016-17 season when he was with the Jazz. The veteran guard understands the game and the way it has changed over the years and has adapted his play-style to fit the “modern day” guard.
With his shooting abilities on the outside, the Lakers would not only vault into the Top-10 in perimeter shooting, but they could have a Top-Five offense and defense. Not only would this make them the toughest team to beat in the league, but put them well on their way to winning back-to-back titles.
