Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets are in a rebuild mode whether they want to be or not. The Rockets do have some key pieces in John Wall and Christian Wood, but they have virtually no talent surrounding their unit.

Adding draft picks and solid depth is going to be exactly what the Rockets are going to be looking for at the NBA trade deadline this season. The Lakers would be able to give the Rockets a little bit of each for Eric Gordon who is likely an expendable piece this season.

The Rockets aren’t the type of team to want to bottom out so Kentavious Caldwell-Pope could be serviceable replacement for Gordon in their lineup. Being able to add two future draft picks while significantly reducing their future salary cap burden seems like a real win.
