The Dallas Mavericks produced historic offensive results in 2019-20 largely due to having NBA stars Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis while surrounding them with sharpshooting. Now, the Mavs have struggled and Porzingis finds himself being included in NBA trade rumors.
Per SNY’s Ian Begley, one of the team’s the Mavericks reached out to in order to gauge interest about a potential trade is the Golden State Warriors.
It was reported on Monday by Bleacher Report’s Jake Fischer, an assistant general manager told him how the Mavericks ‘definitely sniffed around’ the possibility of trading Kristaps Porzingis.
The appeal for the Warriors behind a potential trade for Kristaps Porzingis appears to be quite clear. His ability to knock down three-pointers from the parking lot when coupled with his shot blocking ability would be an intriguing fit alongside Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and eventually Klay Thompson.

There would certainly be some concerns from the Warriors’ perspective when it comes to injuries. Having consistent availability of key players is arguably the most important aspect of winning in the Western Conference. This has been seen first hand by the Mavericks and is likely why Porzingis is even being talked about in NBA trade rumors in the first place.
If the Warriors did feel comfortable enough to put together a compelling trade package to land Kristaps Porzingis, it surely wouldn’t come cheap. However, there likely would be no better time to do so than right now given his trade value appears to be at a low point.
The Dallas Mavericks have emerged as a team to watch in NBA trade rumors as the March deadline approaches. Surrounding Luka Doncic with great talent is of the utmost importance for the Mavs and perhaps a way to help would be to trade Kristaps Porzingis for more reliable options.
