Los Angeles Clippers Receive: C Andre Drummond

Cleveland Cavaliers Receive: G Patrick Beverley, F Marcus Morris Sr., LAC 2022 2nd Round Pick, ATL 2022 2nd Round Pick (via LAC), LAC 2027 1st Round Pick

The Los Angeles Clippers only have one first-round pick left to their name and if they are to acquire Drummond, they would have to give that up, leaving them with no first-round picks until 2028 when the new calendar year begins next offseason. Also, if this trade was to occur, it could potentially be a three-team deal where Marcus Morris Sr. gets shipped somewhere else.

Cleveland has made their intentions known that they are actively seeking to trade Andre Drummond and in-return, they would likely want a fair amount of draft compensation and/or players that can help them now. Patrick Beverley and Marcus Morris Sr. are definitely two veteran players that Cleveland could utilize to help grow their young team.

The Cavaliers are one of the younger teams in the league and with JaVale McGee and Kevin Love being the only players on this roster over the age of 30, both Beverley and Morris Sr. could join this team and be veteran leaders. Both McGee and Love are not in the long-term plans of Cleveland anyways and could be traded at the deadline.

Patrick Beverley has always been known to be a great defensive guard and since the Cavs currently rank 20th in the league in team defense, he could become the anchor for their defense. With Jarrett Allen being a great shot-blocker and rookie Isaac Okoro showing the ability to guard numerous positions, Cleveland could start to put things together to have a great defensive team.

Not to mention, Marcus Morris Sr. is a very reliable scoring option on the wing, giving Cleveland another weapon to utilize outside of their young backcourt duo of Collin Sexton and Darius Garland.

The Clippers could really use that third, big-time player on their roster and Andre Drummond is just that. He can help this team in more ways than one and give Los Angeles one of the better frontcourts in the league.

Now, let’s take a look at why this trade makes sense for both the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Clippers.
