Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Charlotte Hornets

Terry Rozier has been instrumental to the Hornets success this season, but with rookie LaMelo Ball looking like one of the better overall point guards in the league and Devonte’ graham proving that he is a great scoring guard, the Hornets could possibly get away with trading Rozier and still make the playoffs this season.

So far this year, the Hornets have 7 players averaging double-figure scoring, which is the main reason why they are currently in the playoff picture in the Eastern Conference. Not only could they become an even better offensive team by making this trade, but they would have even more weapons and depth to lean on.

Jalen Brunson is in his third season in the league and has slowly started to turn himself into a fantastic point guard. Not only is he a great passer, finding open teammates with ease, but he knows what it takes to win, as he was a part of two championship teams at Villanova in college.

Not only could Brunson be a big contributor for the Hornets in the backcourt, but Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell could be two essential role players in the frontcourt for the Hornets. Outside of Cody Zeller and P.J. Washington, this team has no reliable frontcourt options, which is why they could use the depth.

Kleber is a sharpshooting big man from the perimeter and Dwight Powell has proven that he can be a reliable rebounder. He is a pretty decent offensive rebounder as well, which will supply this young, feisty Hornets team with plenty of chances for second-chance opportunities.

Terry Rozier’s value is at an all-time high right now and with all of the talent they have in their backcourt, it seems like a no-brainer for the Hornets to trade him. Not only will LaMelo Ball continue to dominate as the team’s starting point guard, but they can continue to improve their draft capital, getting two very important future first-round picks.

This trade is not as much of the Hornets accepting it as it would be getting the Mavericks to agree to this deal.
