Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are in need of some depth to build around their three main core of John Wall, Victor Oladipo, and Christian Wood. The Rockets are already seemingly out of playoff contention in the overloaded Western Conference and they should be looking to acquire assets for the future.
Adding some weapons like JJ Redick and Nicolo Melli to the mix will only add to their lackluster bench presence and could ultimately make Victor Oladipo even more expendable as well, which will be something to watch in NBA trade rumors, regardless.
This trade isn’t one that’s going to alter the landscape of the NBA, but it’s certainly one that will be be crucial to making some other deals. Especially when considering JJ Redick has an expiring deal, which would make owner Tilman Fertitta happy.
JJ Redick would provide the Houston Rockets with a capable shooting guard that could start while they look for potential trade candidates to take Victor Oladipo off their hands. If the Rockets made this deal with the Pelicans, they could be setting themselves up nicely in the future.
