Why This Trade Makes Sense For The New Orleans Pelicans
The New Orleans Pelicans need to find a consistent player to play at their shooting guard position and Eric Gordon could be a perfect fit for the team. Gordon has a sweet stroke as he’s shooting 46.3 percent from the floor and 35.1 percent from beyond the arc.
The Pelicans are disappointed in the results JJ Redick have been putting up this season so packaging him as part of the deal only makes sense. He’s already found himself being mentioned in NBA trade rumors as a result and will surely be moved at the deadline.
The Pelicans are also making Nicolo Melli expendable due to their overload at the power forward and center positions that Zion Williamson and Steven Adams fill so nicely. New Orleans could benefit from moving clearing some room on that front.
The Pelicans would have an elite starting five with Lonzo Ball and Eric Gordon running the guard positions, Brandon Ingram and Zion Williamson running the forward positions, and the big Steven Adams anchoring the center spot. Adding Eric Gordon to the mix would allow New Orleans to take the top off opposing teams.
