This Pelicans-Rockets trade is focused on Eric Gordon to New Orleans

Houston Rockets, Eric Gordon, Miami Heat, NBA Rumors

New Orleans Pelicans Receive: Eric Gordon

Houston Rockets Receive: JJ Redick, Nicolo Melli, 2021 1st Round Pick (via LAL)

Landing Eric Gordon won’t be as hard as it probably should be for the New Orleans Pelicans and offering up JJ Redick and Nicolo Melli could make so much sense. Melli is a bright young big man with only two years of experience that could be a great role player for the Rockets.

The Rockets are trying to rally on a nightly basis behind the play of John Wall and Victor Oladipo; but they may be better off hitting the reset button and starting fresh next season. Adding some youth to their team could certainly help them out as they look to build more for the future.

The Pelicans should look to do what they have to do to create a reunion with Eric Gordon, and the team has reportedly already been shopping their shooting guard JJ Redick to teams across the league.

Redick has lost a step in 2021, but it’s nothing that one of the best three point shooters in the league can’t fix. Most intriguing of all is his fit alongside John Wall while being on an expiring contract to clear 2021-22 salary cap spending room.

Let’s take a look at how this NBA trade deadline scenario would benefit both the Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans.
