Why This Trade Would Work For the Los Angeles Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers clearly wanted to improve their frontcourt in the offseason and that led them to signing Montrezl Harrell to a two-year contract. He is been a great option for them off the bench and is viewed as a short-term player.

Myles Turner is a starting-caliber player who could stick around long-term as a great complement to Anthony Davis. Both players are elite interior defenders that excel at being weak-side help defenders. This would take the Lakers’ defense from great to incredible.

When looking at the big man in the league, the Lakers already have one of the best with Anthony Davis and now could acquire one of the most underrated. Turner is a beast on both ends of the floor. He currently leads the league and blocked shots with 3.5 per game.

LeBron James thrives when he has shooting around him as well as play finishers with length. Myles Turner checks both boxes as he has the versatility to step out and shoot from deep, drive from the perimeter, and roll to the rim for finishes.

The Lakers do not need to make any more moves if they want to win another championship but acquiring a player like Myles Turner would not hurt. For the player that they are getting, his contract is friendly and he will be around for years to come.
