The Los Angeles Lakers have plenty of talent after winning the NBA championship last season. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis on the roster, there isn’t a need to do a whole lot to the roster. It appears they aren’t going to remain satisfied.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers are interested in trading for PJ Tucker and the Rockets are seeking a player in return they can plug into their lineup.
It makes sense as to why the Lakers would hold interest in a potential trade for PJ Tucker with the Rockets. He brings defensive versatility with his ability to guard multiple positions all the while being able to convert on open jump shots as a spot-up threat.
The Lakers also are interested in DeMarcus Cousins, who has agreed to part ways with the Rockets. He is expected to have plenty of interest from contenders with Los Angeles being among them. It remains to be seen which team he will end up choosing.

With Anthony Davis sidelined at least until the All-Star break, the Lakers could benefit from having PJ Tucker. He could help to maximize the potential lineup combinations by playing the four or five spot and take pressure off LeBron James.
As far as who the Rockets could ask for in return to make a potential trade work, there aren’t a whole lot of potential options to choose from. Montrezl Harrell, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and Dennis Schroder are the only non-star players making close to PJ Tucker’s salary this season.
The Los Angeles Lakers appear to be a team to watch in NBA trade rumors leading up to the March deadline. It doesn’t hurt to be aggressive in the roster construction department when there is a clear title contention window occuring.
