Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have almost the same team they had last year, minus Gordon Hayward, but a lot of the Celtics problems stem from their frontcourt. While they did sign Tristan Thompson this offseason, the Boston Celtics have long been needing a reliable big man in their frontcourt, which is exactly what they would be getting with a guy like LaMarcus Aldridge.

Not only is Aldridge one of the best mid-range players of the last generation, but he has always been a great and reliable rebounder. Over the course of his career, LaMarcus Aldridge has averaged 8.3 rebounds and can really help provide some stability in the Celtics’ frontcourt.

This season, Aldridge is averaging 14.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and is shooting 47.6% from the floor, 35.8% from three-point range. His numbers have been slightly down from last season, but Aldridge has also been dealing with a hip injury.

This is definitely something to monitor for the Celtics, especially since the Spurs announced that there is no timetable for his return, but fully healthy, Aldridge is a difference maker and can really elevate this Celtics team.

The only question is whether or not the Celtics would be willing to give up this much in return for a veterna forward who is near the end of his career. They could probably get a better overall talent for what they would be trading for Aldridge in this trade scenario, so it may not be the best thing for Boston afterall.
