Bradley Beal suspects trade rumors boosted him to All-Star starter

To the surprise of some people, the Washington Wizards are having a disastrous season. The NBA blockbuster trade finalized in the offseason that brought Russell Westbrook to D.C. from the Houston Rockets in exchange for John Wall was expected to jumpstart the franchise. Instead, it has been more of the same despite still having Bradley Beal at the helm.

Washington currently has one of the worst records in the NBA at 9-17. They couldn’t stop a cold defensively, giving up 119.5 points per game, surrendering at least 100 points in every game this season.

Despite the poor record, there is something the Wizards can count on each and every night; Bradley Beal showing up and playing well.

Bradley Beal is having another wonderful season, averaging 32.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 1.3 steals per game. His numbers are on par with the stats he put up last season when he was considered one of the biggest snubs ever for the All-Star game. This year, they got it right.

Beal was named one of the five representatives to start in the All-Star Game for the Eastern Conference. Joining him are the Brooklyn Nets Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, the Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokunmpo and the Philadelphia 76ers’ Joel Embiid.

After what happened last season, Beal has earned the right to be called an All-Star again. Beal was asked about why he thinks things changed this season after not making it last year.

NBA trade rumors could be a reason that Beal was voted into the game. With his name being mentioned on national media outlets on a nearly nightly basis, more fans are realizing just how good of a season he is having. This could be the first time some casual fans are seeing that Beal is a stud on the court.

However, Beal’s performance on the court should have been more than enough to get him in the game. While the Wizards aren’t winning many games, Beal has produced at a level worthy of being recognized with an All-Star nod.
