Why This Trade Would Benefit The Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors have been one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference over the last two years. This includes a season where they won the title with the help of Kawhi Leonard. In the offseason, they were a busy team and landed one of their top priorities. In the process, other key members of the team left in free agency.

Fred VanVleet was viewed as an important deal to get done. The two sides were able to come to terms but Toronto lost some key pieces in the frontcourt. Both Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka ended up leaving and the effects have been difficult for the Raptors. VanVleet and Pascal Siakam have been the leaders of this team, along with Lowry.

Their depth is a bit depleted and this is something they could look for in a trade. Montrezl Harrell and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope are starting caliber players that could come in and contribute immediately. They are also short-term options under team-friendly contracts.

Toronto is still alive in a weak Eastern Conference. If they want to return to form, the front office will have to make some moves and they have one of the best men for the job in Masai Ujiri.
