Why This Trade Makes Sense For The Detroit Pistons
With Jerami Grant emerging as a true All-Star talent, Mason Plumlee emerging as a true, reliable center and with other young talents in Josh Jackson, Saddiq Bey, Svi Mykhailiuk and Isaiah Stewart all playing at a high-level, things are trending upwards for a Pistons franchise that has struggled for years.
They finally have the foundation for future success laid out, but they are still a couple years away from being legit threats. Keeping Delon Wright could help them win some more games this year, but in the grand scheme of things, it does not make much sense to keep him past this year.
As a result, trading him and McGruder for Danny Green, Furkan Korkmaz and a 2022 1st Round pick makes a lot of sense for the Pistons to finish their rebuild. Green being on an expiring contract allows the Pistons to have about $10M in cap space to play around with in free agency and Furkan Korkmaz could be a three-point weapon they could look to keep long-term.

Now in his fourth season in the league with the 76ers, Korkmaz has shot 37.1% from three-point range and could be an excellent sharpshooting option for the Pistons to utilize off-the-bench. Detroit ranks 22nd in three-point shooting this year and that is one of the major areas of their game they need to look to improve moving forward.
The first-round pick the Pistons get in 2022 also helps them acquire yet another high-level, young talent they could insert into their youthful core. Everything about this trade makes sense for the Detroit Pistons, which is why they should look to pursue trading Delon Wright this season.
