Why The Trade Would Benefit The Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavaliers have been rebuilding since LeBron James left for Los Angeles. This is why veterans like Drummond and Love have been featured in NBA trade rumors. They do not fit into the plan and would cost too much to keep around. Even though the return is not high, the Cavs would at least be getting something for Drummond.
Collin Sexton is looking like the real deal this season. He is averaging 22.8 points per game and has been the focal point of the offense. Darius Garland is another backcourt player who is beginning to take the next step.
In a guard-driven league, Cleveland should build around their two future stars. Right now, that is not Drummond. The team is beginning to fall back in the Eastern Conference and when that happens, it is time to sell.
It would not be surprising to see Cleveland make a deal involving a big-name player. In this case, it would make a lot of sense for the franchise to clear even more opportunity for Jarrett Allen. He’s considered the center of the future and is a better locker room fit.
