This Heat-Spurs trade is centered on DeMar DeRozan to Miami

After making the NBA Finals last season, the Miami Heat have not started their 2020-21 campaign the way they had hoped. With Jimmy Butler dealing with injuries and COVID-19 causing plenty of Miami’s players to miss games, the Heat have started the year 11-15 and have a lot of work to do if they want to have any shot of potentially winning a title.

This team definitely has the firepower and talent to be able to contend with some of the best teams in the NBA, but the question that remains for the Miami Heat is if it is enough. Sure, they can contend with teams like the 76ers, Bucks and Nets, but in a 7-game series, can they really take down one of these teams?

Team President Pat Riley and the Heat’s front-office are always looking for ways to better their roster, and they did this past offseason by adding veteran guard Avery Bradley and rookie Precious Achiuwa. They have plenty of young talents in Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson, Kendrick Nunn and NBA All-Star center Bam Adebayo and are set up for a lot of future success, but will the Heat wait and continue to develop talent or will they chase titles now?

Plenty of big name superstars have been mentioned in NBA trade rumors as being available recently and if there is one thing we know about Pat Riley it is that he is always looking to form another “Big 3” like he had with Wade, LeBron and Bosh. If the Miami Heat want to, they could absolutely add another star to their roster at the trade deadline, but it will be a tough decision for them to make as they would have to flip their roster around to do so.

DeMar DeRozan is an interesting name that keeps appearing in Heat trade rumors, mainly because he is in the final year of his contract and would be a great fit next to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. His unselfishness and ability to be a leader is what makes him such a great player, which is why he would be a great trade target for the Heat.

So how could Miami pull off a trade to land the veteran forward? Let’s take a look at what this trade could potentially look like between the Miami Heat and the San Antonio Spurs involving DeMar DeRozan.
