Free Agency Is No Guarantee

Just because Julius Randle will have the opportunity to depart from the New York Knicks following next season doesn’t mean he will. He has taken the next step with the organization and appears to have finally found a long-term home.

We have seen the New York Knicks go after some of the biggest names on the market in recent years like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Instead of continuing to hope for the best in free agency, New York could lure some of those guys in by bringing back their own star in Julius Randle.

The Knicks need to begin establishing continuity and the best way to do so would be to reward players who are providing high-level contributions. Randle is doing precisely that and the focus should be to surround him with the necessary pieces to contend.

Julius Randle has helped turn the New York Knicks into playoff contenders and if the Knicks built around him they could contend for a title appearance as well. He deserves to be in New York for the long haul and the Knicks would be smart to keep him secured.
