Why This Trade Would Benefit The OKC Thunder
The OkC Thunder moved Chris Paul this offseason because of his enormous contract and age. Danilo Gallinari left in free agency and this really jumpstarted the rebuild after a postseason birth last year. The Thunder can continue the trend with a move such as this one.
George Hill is a veteran point guard who does not fit into the plans for the future. It would be worth it to make this deal with the Lakers despite having to give up first-round pick.
Oklahoma City has plenty of draft capital over the next half decade that they could use in a potential deal. Adding another member to their core on the wing to pair with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Luguentz Dort could be an intriguing possibility. Kyle Kuzma stands out as an option.
The Thunder rode an All-NBA season from Chris Paul into the playoffs. They will not be the case this season so Presti will have to continue to rebuild. Gaining core players when opportunities present themselves is a luxury Oklahoma City has at their disposal.
