The Boston Celtics could be one of the most aggressive teams at the NBA trade deadline. They are falling behind the pack in the Eastern Conference, especially with the Brooklyn Nets forming a superteam. Having the Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown duo isn’t going to be enough.
Entering the offseason, the Celtics faced a great need in the frontcourt but did not make any improvements other than signing m Tristan Thompson. Right now, that is looking awfully pedestrian. As we move forward, one name could stand out over the others for Boston.
That name is Jerami Grant. During the offseason, Grant signed a three-year deal with the Detroit Pistons. This made him a short-term option for a rebuilding team like Detroit.
This season, Jerami Grant has played 26 games and is averaging 23.3 points per game. This is a chance for Detroit to use his value and send him away in a deal. This team is not going to rebuild anytime soon so Grant would benefit from playing for a contender.
The Celtics are certainly a team looking for another player. Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are off to All-Star caliber starts averaging upwards of 26 points per game.
Outside of their star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the Celtics’ struggle with depth. Kemba Walker has missed time this season with an injury while their frontcourt has been mediocre. Jerami Grant could go above-and-beyond replacing the void left behind by Gordon Hayward.
This trade would solidify the roster for the Celtics as we move forward in the season. Let’s take a look at what it might take the land grant in Boston at the deadline.
