The New York Knicks did not wait until close to the NBA trade deadline to make a splash by acquiring Derrick Rose from the Detroit Pistons. There was concern about how it may impact Immanuel Quickley’s opportunities, but he sees strong value in the move early on.
When talking with Ian Begley of SNY.com, Immanuel Quickley expressed how Derrick Rose is already making the game easier for him in a variety of important areas.
“On offense it’s somebody else who can make plays, help make the game easier for myself, to score and make the game easier to facilitate,” Quickley said. “He’s a good shooter and can get to his spots as well. And then on defense he guards so it helps me a lot on defense, whether it be showing me something on the help side or on the ball the defense.”
The production from Derrick Rose is already paying dividends. He has appeared in three games with the Knicks so far and has posted averages of 14.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 4.0 assists. He’s shooting an impressive 54.8% from the floor and 42.9% from beyond the arc.

Given the lack of progress in development from many of the Knicks’ recent NBA Draft selections have made, New York faces a need to add more established talents around the prospects who are blossoming.
It’s intriguing to see how Immanuel Quickley is meshing well with Derrick Rose given the concerns from some about how it could take minutes away from him. That hasn’t been the case and the move actually appears to be helping Quickley’s development.
In Immanuel Quickley’s most recent performance, he scored 22 points on 7-of-9 (77.8%) shooting from the field against the Houston Rockets. Overall, he is averaging an impressive 12.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists so far during his rookie campaign.
