Why This Trade Would Benefit The New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are currently in the running for the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference. This was not expected coming into the season but the team has overachieved to this point.

This was because of the elite play of Julius Randle and RJ Barrett along with rookie Immanuel Quickley breaking out a bit. If they want this dynamic to continue, the Knicks will have to get a few more pieces to their team.

It could begin by adding a three-point shooter. As good as RJ Barrett has been in the lane, he has been that bad from deep. He is shooting 28.7% from three-point range in his second year in the NBA and it is not looking like it will improve anytime soon. Julius Randle is shooting 38.7% from deep on 4.2 attempts per game.

This is why the Knicks rank near the bottom of the league in terms of three-point percentage. JJ Redick would help that turn around immediately. This is just one aspect that the Knicks need to change. Ultimately, they need a star presence in the lineup and this is something else they could look to pursue at the NBA trade deadline.

Right now, the Knicks are a mediocre team. They have some good role players for the future but need that next-level player to help them take a step up. It is now up to the front office to be on the look for that type of player.
