Why This Trade Would Benefit The Los Angeles Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers is as good as it gets in the NBA and that is not going to change for quite some time. They are currently near the top of the Western Conference with a 21-6 record this season and can get it done on both ends of the floor.
The Lakers currently rank second in the league allowing just 105.2 points per contest. They are in the middle of the pack in scoring with 113.2 per game. John Collins did not sign an extension with the Hawks this offseason which means he could have interest in landing somewhere else.
If that somewhere is Los Angeles, it is likely that Collins would stick around. As good as Harrell has been, he is a short-term option. The big man signed a two-year deal with the Lakers worth $18.9 million. Making bold moves while LeBron James at an elite level needs to be the priority.
John Collins is just 23-years old and is just beginning to scratch the surface of his potential. A frontcourt of Collins and Anthony Davis is something that should have fans salivating. The front office of the Lakers has made it clear that they are not afraid to make the big move and another could be on the horizon.
The Lakers are setup well to repeat as NBA champions this season. That does not mean that they are going to sit on their hands come the NBA trade deadline and be satisfied with having LeBron James and Anthony Davis. It will be interesting to see if they continue to make big moves.
