Wayne Ellington Is A Great Catch & Shoot Perimeter Threat

We talked about how Wayne Ellington has been a really solid offensive weapon for the Pistons this season, but what we did not mention is that he is currently shooting 49.1% from three-point range. While he will bounce around the leaderboard over the course of the season, Ellington currently ranks second in the league in three-point shooting, trailing only Seth Curry, who ranks 2nd all-time in three-point shooting percentage.

The veteran sharpshooter has really come into his own as a catch-and-shoot three-point threat over the years and this year, all of his hard work is finally paying off. The Lakers currently rank 13th in three-point shooting percentage and adding Ellington to their roster will only make them a better perimeter shooting team.

Los Angeles currently has six players shooting 37% or better from beyond-the-arc and adding Ellington to this rotation gives them yet another legit knock-down shooter. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis being the elite level scorers they are, the only thing this team needs is reliable shooters from the perimeter, which is exactly the kind of player Wayne Ellington is.

Not only does he make their team three-point shooting percentage better, but he makes their overall offense better because teams will have to respect the fact that the Lakers have so many three-point shooting threats. Not only does this create more one-on-one opportunities for LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but if teams collapse on both of these guys, then there will be plenty of opportunities for kickout passes and open three-point shots.

We all know how great of a passer LeBron James is and as a result, he should have no problem swinging the ball around to his open shooters in the corners if teams do decide to collapse on him and Anthony Davis in the paint.
