Why This Trade Would Benefit The Orlando Magic
This deal all depends on where the front office wants to lead this Orlando Magic team. Nikola Vucevic is their cornerstone player and will not be going anywhere for quite some time, but he needs more help. Any other player on the roster is expandable.
If the Magic want to get better at point guard, this deal would help. It will cost them but at the same time, Orlando has given this regime a chance and they have been unable to get higher than the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.
The Eastern Conference is extremely top-heavy, which means the Magic should have a chance to climb further up the standings after making an upgrade to their roster at the NBA trade deadline. Kemba Walker is a score-first guard and that is what he would be able to do in Orlando.
Parting ways with Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier would be tough but they would be getting back in All-Star caliber guard along with the first-round draft pick in this year’s draft. The time seems right for Orlando to make a splash and acquire a player like Walker.
