The Boston Celtics could surprise everyone at the NBA trade deadline and be one of the biggest buyers. After coming into the season with championship aspirations, the Celtics are off to a slow start but they are being led by their stars. The Orlando Magic could have some pieces that intrigue Boston.
Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum are both averaging upwards of 26 points per game. Outside of the dynamic duo, the Celtics lack depth all over the floor. They entered the offseason with a need downlow but made few moves to improve the frontcourt.
Tristan Thompson was their free agent signing. Thompson and Daniel Theis have been underwhelming to begin the season. Boston will welcome help wherever they can get it.
The Magic are a team that could help. They are coming off two straight postseason appearances but have been very low seeds. This has impacted their ability to advance in the playoffs. Markelle Fultz was beginning to show signs of late but will miss the rest of the year with a torn ACL.
The Magic have a strong core beginning with Nikola Vucevic. He is a versatile big man on both ends of the floor and the Magic could look to build around him. This could be getting rid of some of their other big names. At some point, Orlando will have to decide which direction they want to go.
Here is a deal that could get done between the Orlando Magic and Boston Celtics at the NBA trade deadline.
