Pacers Need More Bench Scoring
We talked about how great of a bench player Terrence Ross is and the key reason why that would be a huge factor in Indiana’s success moving forward is because their bench has not been that reliable this year. The Pacers’ bench ranks 27th in scoring this season and 22nd in three-point shooting percentage.
Outside of Doug McDermott, this team does not have many pure scoring talents on their bench, which is why adding Terrence Ross could go a long way in their future success. Having key role players who can score off-the-bench are vital for any team’s success, just look at the past few champions.
Every team that wins a championship has great, star-level players, but they also have key players they can turn to in their second-unit to provide some scoring when the stars are struggling or are getting a breather. This is exactly why Terrence Ross is so valuable, as he can hold things down on the wing for the Pacers when guys like Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis are out of the game.
He has scored in double-figures off-the-bench in 16 of his 24 games with the Magic this season, including seven 20+ point performances. Ross is a proven scorer that can play 30+ minutes a game and is very consistent. You know what you are going to get night-in and night-out from a guy like Terrence Ross, which is why the Pacers should do everything they can to try and add him to their roster before the NBA trade deadline.
