So far, the Milwaukee Bucks look like one of the most dominant teams in the league again and that is because a guy named Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to get better for them. The 2x league MVP has not skipped a beat this year and after signing a largest contract extension in NBA history in the offseason, Giannis has continued to be one of the best players in the league.
While Antetokounmpo’s production certainly has been a driving force in the Bucks having one of the best records in the NBA, key offseason additions in Jrue Holiday, Bobby Portis, Bryn Forbes and DJ Augustin have also elevated the play of this Milwaukee franchise.
Jrue Holiday has been a terrific floor general and third scoring option next to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton and Milwaukee’s bench has really stepped up and provided the extra energy this team needed last year. They are not only one of the better scoring benches in the league, but they are the best three-point shooting bench in the league.
As a team, the Bucks currently rank 3rd in the NBA in three-point shooting and set a new NBA record this season for ‘most three-pointers made in a single game by a team’ with 29 made threes against the Miami Heat on Dec. 30, 2020.
The offensive production this team has put together this year may be the key difference compared to last year’s Bucks team and as a result, they have a very strong case for being legit title contenders this year. However, the Bucks could still use another key player in their backcourt, which is why Milwaukee could look to make another big move near the trade deadline.
They are $25.3M over the salary cap and do not have much room to absorb a bigger contract, but veteran guard Lou Williams may be worth the investment for the Bucks, especially in their pursuit of a championship this year. Let’s take a look at three reasons why the Bucks should try and make a trade with the Clippers in exchange for Lou Williams.
