Why This Trade Would Benefit The Toronto Raptors

Toronto is off to an 11-13 start the season. They were the two-seed in the Eastern Conference last year but lost some key pieces to the roster. Both Serge Ibaka and Marc Gasol left in free agency and the effects have been big. The Raptors will need to do some serious work to get back in to the top of the conference.

A priority in the offseason was re-signing Fred VanVleet. The two side agreed on a four-year, $80 million deal. It is clear that he is the new franchise player for the Raptors. If that is the case, it is time to build around Fred VanVleet and Pascal Siakam. This means taking advantage of value while there still is some left.

Kyle Lowry is averaging 17 points and shooting 36.9% from three-point range this season. He would best serve a contending team that is looking to improve the point guard position. Toronto could capitalize on trading him to a contender for some helpful pieces going forward.

The Raptors would get three players with great experience in the NBA. Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope could all start for Toronto immediately. This would be a huge haul for a veteran point guard as the Raptors look toward the future.
