Karl-Anthony Towns Gets Traded To New York Knicks

For years now, the Minnesota Timberwolves have been trying to stockpile young talent, headlined by their No. 1 overall pick back in 2015, Karl-Anthony Towns. Since entering the NBA, Towns has been one of the most dominant big men in the NBA and at just 25-years old, has not even entered the prime of his career yet.

Now in his sixth season with the Timberwolves, Karl-Anthony Towns has made two All-Star appearances and made the All-NBA team for the 2017-18 season. While he has missed some time over the years due to different injuries when he is on the court, he is one of the best centers in the entire league, but even with him, the Timberwolves have still struggled.

Since being drafted by Minnesota, the Timberwolves have gone 162-230 (41.3% win percentage) in 5 seasons with Karl-Anthony Towns and have made the playoffs just once in that time frame. If Minnesota continues to struggle and cannot prove they can win, Towns may want out of his current situation.

Karl-Anthony Towns is definitely the player the Knicks should have at the top of their target list moving forward. Not only is Towns one of the better big men in the entire NBA, but he is from Metuchen, New Jersey, and grew up a Knicks fan.

The impact Towns would have on the New York Knicks would be immense, especially given their need to add a superstar talent like him. With R.J. Barrett and Julius Randle as the two core guys for the Knicks, they need a big-time talent to be able to lead them and also lure other All-Star talents to the Knicks in order to build a very talented contender in the East.

Although he would come at a very hefty price, Karl-Anthony Towns could do wonders in Madison Square Garden and would be the best player the Knicks have had since Patrick Ewing in the 90’s. It should come as no surprise to see New York interested in a player like Towns and given their early success, they could potentially make the playoffs for the first time since 2013 if they make this move.

Not only would this be significant NBA news because Towns is one of the best players in the league 25-years old or younger, but he could help turn the Knicks into one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference. It sounds crazy to say, but if they get Karl-Anthony Towns, the Knicks would be back and ready to contend for championships!
